Super Bowl Get Together!

On Sunday, February 5th, the club doors will be opened at 5:00 PM for anyone interested in watching the Super Bowl on the big screen. Cliff Esser will have a nice big pot of Hot Chili. Hmmm, what goes good with chili besides football? Bring your favorite Super Bowl munchies to share. Cash bar. $50 peso donation is highly appreciated.

Thursday, January 19th – Book Club Meeting & Lunch

10:00 AM, Book Cub Meeting Break out from your same ol’ routine! This Thursday, come in a little earlier for one of our great book club discussions, followed by lunch, and at 1:15 upstairs in the media room, we will show an hour-long YouTube interview with the cross-cultural, fascinating author of Thursday’s book The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Luis Zafon.  (2012, 279 pages, English  and Spanish versions available on Kindle.) This book can also be read free online. Even if you haven’t had a chance to read this marvel of detective writing, you’ll enjoy getting together with others who enjoy reading and discussion.

Something will be served. Your guess is as good as mine. Most likely there will be salad bar, some kind of entree, and dessert. But I’m sure it will be delicious, nutritious, and easy on the wallet. Cast your fate to the wind! Come by the club house and have some lunch, then browse through our VAST book and DVD library! Maybe you’ll find something that catches your eye.

Thursday, December 15th – Book, Lunch, and a Movie

10:00 AM Book Club Meeting– The Crystal Frontier by Carlos Fuentes (1995). Available on Kindle. There will be a movie at 1:15 PM,  “The Old Gringo” 1989 (based on another Fuentes book) with Jane Fonda, Gregory Peck, Jimmy Smits.

Noon to 1:30 PM, Lunch at AmSoc – Please join us for lunch this Thursday. There will be the Fresh Salad Bar and Chicken Cordon Bleu (a breaded, boneless chicken breast stuffed with Swiss cheese and smoky ham,) accompanied with a Baked Potato. Rich Chocolate Cake for dessert. We hope to see you all there. This will be the last regular Thursday luncheon of the year, but that doesn’t mean we will all go hungry ’til January. Christmas Day the clubhouse will be open and we will have Soup and Sandwiches. On New Year’s Day we will have our annual Pot Luck, we hope everyone will make their favorite recipes and bring them in to share. My favorite recipe is Texas Chili and am already planning a BIG pot. ~ Doug ~cordonbleu
